Woofstock

June 14, 2010 by Chris Hutcheson

MuzzledSunday, I decided to wander over to Woofstock and shoot dogs (so to speak). With the end of the season's free concert series at the Four Seasons Centre, I wanted to shoot something a little different. I was also reflecting on a comment George DeWolfe made during a workshop I'd attended a couple of years back, about getting out and getting an image every day. Sunday, I got about 400.

My favourites are at chrishutcheson.com/woofstock

Woofstock, if nothing else, is concrete evidence of the incredible and growing number of people who have, and love, dogs. I don't think you would have found a pet abuser in the crowd. Though, some of those costumes...

I find the emotions and moods dogs display incredibly intriguing and engaging. I hope you enjoy these images.

Fine Art Giclée Printing

April 7, 2010 by Chris Hutcheson

I've been printing my own work for several years now, and have received very positive feedback from photographers and professional printers at shows. I can print your work as well.

George deWolfe, a New England fine art photographer and the author of Digital Fine Print Workshop, makes the point in his book that it's important for the photographic artist to manage the process from start to finish. That includes everything from taking the shot to printing it.

It's a great point, but not everyone needs, or can afford, the expenses associated with fine art printing.  Equipment,, ink, and paper can cost thousands of dollars, and fine art printing requires a certain level of expertise. A good book for learning about digital print workflow, by the way, is Fine Art Printing for Photographers by Uwe Steinmueller and Juergen Gulbins.

I own Epson large format professional printers, and high quality Epson and Hahnemuhle papers. Currently, I only print matte stock, but will be adding lustre paper up to 17" widths in the near future.
